What is of interest of you?
A story that interested me today was one about a woman who ate an E. Coli infested burger in 2007 and became paralyzed.

What do you learn about other places?
From reading this story i learned that the brand of ground beef she ate comes from slaughter houses in Nebraska, Texas and Uruguay, and from a South Dakota and they processes fatty trimmings and ground together other scraps to make the burgers.

The article in the world section of the NYT that interests me the most is the article called For Brazil, Olympic Bid Is About Global Role. I found an interest in this because it teaches me about how other countries need unity. For example in the article a a Brazilian author who wrote a book about Rio ( a city in Brazil ) states “Rio is needing to reinforce its self-esteem,” said Ruy Castro. It shows how although to us in the United States other countries seem so strong, and over powering, they also have their down falls and sometimes even if it means winning an olympics it can boost a countries self esteem because it shows how they can work together to achieve things.

The story that interested me was...
"French Students Get an Extra Push"
I learned that students in the not so great areas in Paris are being pushed to do better in school. If they get good grade and are in class more they will get money/grants for collage. I found this interesting because I think if I was going to get money for collage I would push myself a little more. It also showed that even in other countries kids don't want to do work and they need something to look foward to.

i learned that the brand of meatshe ate came from slaughter houses in Nebraska, Uraguay,South Dakota and Texas, where to make burgers, they process fat trimmings and mix that with other scraps to make the burgers, which is really unhealthy as well as disgousting.

The story that interested me was; "240 Die in India as Monsoons Follow Drought". It was about how 240 people have died, and hundreds of thousands have been left homeless in New Delhi, India after four days of heavy rainfall.

What do you learn about other places?

I also learned that in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, there were villages that got destroyed because of the sudden rains. Its sad because in this year there has been 1,184 deaths in 127 Indian districts.

This also interested me because I have family that live in New Delhi, India.

I learned that in the villages Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, they were completely destroyed because of the heavy rainfall. I was sad and shocked to hear that there has been 1,184 deaths this year in 127 Indian districts.

The article that interests me the most is the story about, Nato critizing the United States for not doing a good job in Afganistan.

I learned that Nato has 35,000 troops while the Americans have 65,000 troops in Afganistan. They want to keep things balanced because Americans is the country involved with the war, but Nato doesn't want to not care abou this war so they also send some troops.

"In a Guinea Seized by Violence, Women are Prey"
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/06/world/africa/06guinea.html?ref=world

This interested me because it is strange how America can manage to get so far away from sexism and allow genders to be equal, but in other countries, people are getting away with doing very violent things to women.

This showed that modern women are taking a stand and speaking up against being attacked and sexually abused.

- The story I found most interesting was the women who became paralyzed from ecoli in 2007 because of eating an infected burger.

WHAT DO YOU LEARN ABOUT OTHER PLACES?
- I learned that she ate meat that was from a slaughter house from Nebraska, Uragugay, South Dakota, and Texas. They trimmed the fat and mixed it with other scraps to make the burger which is very unsanitary.

the article that interests me is the "U.S. Condemns Mass Killings and Rape in Guinea" because there have been a lot of killings and rapes going on in that area. What i learned from the other place was who the nation leader was and the person is Capt. Moussa Dadis Camara and that hillary clinton said that the country must choose there own leaders.

The Article that interested me the most has to be Obama deciding if he should agree with general to add more troops to Afganistan and Pakistan. I believe that he shouldn't allow his to happen for it is pointless.

I learned that Afganistan's government is really messed out right now.

The article that interested me the most was "Russia: Reporter's Death Remembered". It interested me because it is about a reporter (Anna Polistksovskaya) who was killed for publishing facts on human rights abuses and corruption in Chechnya, which caused her to get killed. I think that is interesting because in America, freedom of speech is something practiced often, without punishment.

I learned that since the death of Politskovskaya in 2006, 7 other journalists have been killed in Russia for speaking out the truth.
