They helped me to understand and to see what is rally required to achieve a six. They showed me how detailed you need to be and what typed of language to use. For these essay's i believe that they are testing the knowledge of the test-er. To make sure that each student knows what needs to be known. Standards that must be known to be successful are : a good and wide vocabulary, clear and thorough paragraphs that are also clearly detailed.
These files helped me to understand what I need to do to recived a level six. They showed me how to put my thoughts together and how to organize my work.

This helped me understand and see what I need to achieve a six. It showed me that I have to be detailed in what im writing. It showed me that I need to hav my thoughts together so I can get my work organized.

1. it helps me understand that i have to do exactly what the directions ask me to do and to provide as much details as possible. also, it helps me understand that my paragraphs and info should be clear and organized.

These examples helped me to understand that a level 6 essay must be very detailed, include insightful connections and use structure/correct grammar.
I think that the ability to write a level 6 essay in 45 minutes is being tested in the task.
The standards I have to master in order to be successful are the structure of my response, vocabulary, ability to stablish connections and clear understanding of the text.
Reading these essays help me understand what to do. I now understand You have to pick one of these quotes and not both for starters. I also know how I can write the introduction. I also know what I can write in my paragraphs like, what the story is about and how I can compare the book to the quote etc.
I think the standards are being tested in the tasks. Like listeinng reading writing etc.
The only standard I really need to work on is organizing my paragrahs and such. (If that is a standard.)

By reading the level 6 essay I was able to understand what is expected and what a student needs to do to achieve the grading. By writing the essay you are being tested to see how much you know about the task as possible, be able to create controlling ideas and have specfic evidence to support each idea. The format of the essay must be coherent and easy to read, and language must be wide and engaging. Standards that we must master is developing a wide and sophisticated vocab, finding relevant evidence, and creating clear ideas.
When I first read the level 6 essay, I didn't think there was much to it. After rereading it, I saw how clear and easy to understand it was. Also, I learned that to write a level 6 essay, it also taught me that I have to read directions and also to make sure that my essay stays on track and has flow. Without these essentials, it would probably be a 4 or less. Standards that we have to master would probably be being more organized, having more sophisticated vocabulary and staying on track.

- Reading the essays helped me to understand that i must follow the exact directions & complete all that is being asked of me, plus more! I need to include a great amount of details, and use complex vocabulary. Lastly, my essay should have a clear focus.
- I believe writing a good quality essay in a short time period is being tested of the students. Along with writing the essay, all criteria needs to be met.
- I believe the standards we must meet include developing a clear focus, writing in an organized fashion, using adult-like vocabulary, using topic sentences & using specific details from the context.

Reading these essays made me realize that we are mainly being tested on our understanding of texts and literary elements. They want to see how well we can draw from passages given and literature outside the test and connect them to each other and draw conclusions about each.
I have also noticed the major difference between a level 6 and 1 essay. A level 1 essay shows that the person has little to no understanding of the question.
What standards must you master to be successful?
To be successful, a person would have to master writing in depth and comprehending the meaning of both the passages and the tasks given. They would need to know about literary elements and have a sophisticated vocabulary. In addition, they would need to know a wide range of books to draw characters from.

Reading the essays helped me understand that every direction and tasks must be followed in order to reach the level of a 6. The essay should have a lot of evidence of the text and also to have a lot of details. I also need to stay on topic and have higher level of vocabularies.

These essays help me understand how I should organize and write my essays. How I need to stay on task and make it descriptive and interesting. Most importantly, this shows me what a level 6 essay looks and what standards I have to meet to get that.
Standards I need to master to get an outstanding grade is that I need to think hard about what the task is asking me to do and how I can use texts to back up my opinion. It also explains how I need to find the appropriate language for all different types of audiences.

As I looked through these essays, I got a better understanding of what is needed to be done to accomplish and achieve a Level 6 on the ELA regents.I would have to agree with what everybody has said that there are certain elements that seperate you from the 1's and 6'.
You must have all of the qualities that contribute to an essay from meaning and interpretation of the text to Language Use such as vocab and figurative language. I know I am not ready for the test at the moment and hopefully we will be practicing these skills to help us pass and achieve our expectations for the ELA regents whether it be June 2010 or 2011.
The essays posted will truly improve my skills as a writer. I will continue to refer to them.

After reading these essays i learned what level 6 essays are like, and i got a idea of what is expected from to to acheive this level 6 grade. i learned u have to be very well detailed, and provied exactly what they want, in the best possible way you can provide it. I think the standards you must master to be successful are defiantly following the direction perfectly, and doing exactly what the task asks. You should also be able to make useful intelligent connections in your essay from the passage they give you. It also should be organized.

Reading the essays really helped me get an understanding of how much effort goes into a level 6 essay and how little effort goes into a level 1 essay. One thing that stood out to me was the writer of the level 6 essay really seemed to know what they were talking about and the writer of the level 1 essay didn't really elaborate too much, probably because they did not know how (they didn't have a complete understanding.).

Reading these essays helped me learn what the people who grade this are looking for. It helped me understand what I needed to do. I think I what I need to cheive that goal of a level 6 essay will be grammer and vocabulary. Also I think that i need information. Information might be a big part of this kind of essays and informtion is something that is lack on.
Reading this helped me understand the criteria for a specific assignment, and what the people who mark the papers look for. I learned that I have to focus on expanding my vocabulary inputting those new words into my work so that it's more advanced. I also now completely get how you analyze the task and how that analysis will help you write. If you don't understand what you have to write about, how can you even write it, you know?

These documents have really helped me to see what I need to do to get a level 6 essay. I have learned that I have to focus on expanding my vocabulary between now and the day of the test. I also must be able to organize my writing so the essay will be organized and make sense.

reading a level six essay was very different than reading a level 3 or 1 essay. The level 6 essay is sophisticated, great use of vocabulary, shows the level of understanding of the piece of literature and the task. Also like you have to be detailed with your response to the essay question but you have to stay with the task.
I think that we were giving this assignment because the teacher wants us to compare our work and see were we're at, since most of us are probably at level 3 looking at a level 6 essay encourages us to d better and improve our literature skills.
